The Canadian Army is the largest component of the Canadian Armed Forces with 35,000 soldiers. Over 19,000 soldiers serve full-time with Regular Force units; 16,000 soldiers serve part-time with the Primary Reserve.

Regular Force

The Regular Force offers full-time career-oriented work. Education, good pay, a good pension and other benefits are part of joining the Regular Force. The training is intense but the rewards are great.

The Canadian Forces Recruiting Centres recruit for the Army, Navy and Air Force. To join the Regular Force you must contact a centre near you or apply online.

Reserve Force

The Primary Reserve offers part-time employment. As a Reservist, you will typically give the Army between 30 and 45 days of service a year.

To join the Primary Reserve, start by dropping by the local armoury in your community or region. If you are looking for a particular trade, you must join a unit that offers that type of work.
