Canadian Armed Forces Parachute Team to perform demonstrations over Lansdowne Park during the 105th Grey Cup festivities

November 23, 2017 – Ottawa – National Defence / Canadian Armed Forces

The Canadian Armed Forces Parachute Team (CAFPT), the SkyHawks, will be jumping out of a Royal Canadian Air Force CC-130J Hercules aircraft to perform aerobatic parachute formations over Lansdowne Park in Ottawa, Ontario, during the 105th Grey Cup Festival, at 2 p.m. EST on Friday, November 24, and at 1 p.m. EST on Saturday, November 25, 2017.

The CC-130J Hercules is from 436 Transport Squadron, based in 8 Wing Trenton Ontario.  The Skyhawks are highly trained professional parachutists of the Canadian Armed Forces. Canadian Armed Forces Parachute demonstrations and aircraft operations are subject to strict safety regulations to protect aircrew, parachutists and observers on the ground.

The Grey Cup Festival is taking place in Lansdowne Park from November 21 to 26, 2017. Activities will include Canadian Armed Forces FanFest activites and Display. The Canadian Army’s mascot, Juno the Bear, will be at Lansdowne during the SkyHawks’ demonstrations to interact with fans at the Canadian Armed Forces display.The Canadian Army is proud to support the SkyHawks with such performances, which allow the team to demonstrate the professionalism, dedication and team work it takes to be part of Canada’s military. The Grey Cup is a strong tradition dating back to 1909 and the Canadian Army is honoured to be a part of the event and celebrations.
