Major Tony Ross: Welcome to Exercise Relentless Warrior. We’re going to see 125 competitors from across Western Canada compete to enhance physical fitness, enhance esprit de corps and the warrior spirit.

(Cut to a close up shot of Major Tony Ross standing in the gym, with the exercise mat and competitors in the background.)

Major Tony Ross: The reason we’re doing this exercise is to train our mind and bodies to overcome the will of our opponent and that’s a critical task as a member of the Canadian Armed Forces.

(Cut to a medium shot of Corporal Gary Michael Nladu as he is about to engage in a match with an opponent.)

(Referee: Fight!)

(Cpl Gary Michael Nladu begins to grapple with his opponent.)

Cpl Gary Michael Nladu: It’s all about good competition and it’s always good skills to have in the military to know how to defend yourself being a soldier in the Canadian Armed Forces.

(Cut to a medium shot of Cpl Micahel Nladu and his oppnonent standing on either side of the referee. The referee announces that Cpl Michael Nladu has won the match by raising his arm into the air.)

Cpl Gary Michael Nladu: I hate losing so I always make sure to win.

Pte Zane Fleming: I’m just excited. I feel like a kid competing.

Pte Jennifer Shih: I try to be angry, but I don’t have anything against the person. Because when you’re in the fight, your goal is to win.
